Running for any sort of distance will take patience, a strong will, the right mentality and a lot of control.

How to Run a 5K Without Stopping
With a few of these tips and tricks, you will be able to reach 5K of continuous running.
So, just remember to keep these in mind.
Train for the 5K
The most important thing you will need to do to ensure that you reach your 5K continuous running goal is to follow a 5K training schedule or routine.
Practice makes perfect, and when it comes to running, you will have to build up your skill and stamina.
In particular, if you are new to running, you should follow a 5K training schedule week by week to build up to the 5K goal, and before you know it, running 5K continuously will be a breeze for you!
Beat the mental block
One of the hardest things you will have to do when running a 5K distance is to keep yourself motivated.
You may reach the point where you feel that you cannot go on without stopping, or taking a breather, but trust us, you will be able to do it.
Your body is strong, and if you have spent time training, then you will be able to get past the mental block.
Try to think of other things instead of worrying about your achy legs. Think about what the weather is like, or the environment in which you are running...look at the trees, and listen out for sounds like birds.
Perhaps sing a song in your head, or try running with other people to force yourself to keep up with them. You’ve got this!
Control your breathing
You will also need to remember to control your breathing properly when running a 5K distance. This will help you to avoid shallow breathing, which will prevent you from getting any stitches in your side.
Usually, if you end up with a side stitch, you will feel like you are unable to continue running as the pain in your side will be too much for you.
This means that you will have to take control and care when breathing. You will want to breathe deeply from your belly, and not with your chest.
Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth for big, deep breaths when running. This way, you can take in more air.
Not only will this give you the energy to breathe properly, and run better, but it will also stop you from panicking if you feel you cannot go on with the 5K.
There’s no rush
When running a 5K distance, think slow and steady. Now, we do not mean really slow, but think about it for a moment.
If you push yourself and run as fast as you can for the first couple of miles, you are going to run out of energy.
You are going to want to pace yourself, and try not to go too fast at the beginning. Stick to a regular, consistent and controlled pace, and you will be able to increase or go for the whole distance.
If you find that you are running out of breath when you are running, then it is probably best to slow it down a little to ensure that you make it the whole 5K.
When you are running, you will want to ensure that you have the correct posture.
By keeping your shoulders back, and a straight, good, strong posture, you will be able to keep your lungs open and take in much more air than if you are hunched over and leaning.
Use those arms to propel yourself
Another great tip for running 5K is to keep your arms at a 90 degree angle when you are running. If you pull one arm back, then use the other to pull you forward.
This can help you move your body forwards more so that your legs do not have to do all the work themselves. Trust us on this one, it’s a lifesaver.
Try not to run for the hills
When running a 5K distance, you may come across a variety of different terrains that can make your path and your run more difficult. Hills are some of the most frustrating obstacles to overcome when running the 5K.
Some runners will try to attack the hills, and force themselves to get over them as quickly as they can, which is not the best idea.
Running as fast as you can over the hills is going to drain your energy and lower your stamina, so try not to exhaust yourself too soon.
The best way to tackle a hill is to use your arms to swing you forwards and give you an extra push. As we said, keep your pace consistent, and try to pump yourself up the hill.
Running for a 5K distance continuously is no easy feat.
